Heroin worth Rs. 35 crore seized, two arrested
New Delhi:
In the biggest drug haul in the capital in a decade, the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) has seized heroin worth Rs. 35 crore from two members of an inter-State trafficking chain in South Delhi.
Acting on a specific tip-off, DRI sleuths intercepted Rajesh Chauhan and Tejbeer Singh on the busy Badarpur-Mehrauli road on Sunday night and seized 35.144 kg of high-quality heroin.
Chauhan and Singh, members of a Punjab-based drug trafficking chain headed by one Gurnam Singh, were waiting to deliver the contraband to some unidentified persons when they were arrested, DRI sources said here.
The contraband was hidden in packages of polythene and fabric, which bore markings in Urdu. . PTI
