GUNTUR: Ten persons, including seven of a family, were killed and 18 others injured when a soil-laden lorry overturned at Guttapalli in Bollapalli mandal on Monday. About 40 persons from the shepherd community hailing from Kandrika were on their way back after exercising franchise when the accident occurred. A tyre of the lorry slipped from the road edge which led to the overturning of the vehicle. Locals rescued some of the 35 persons who were trapped under the soil. Nine died on the spot. While seven of them were from the family of Thallapotu Kotaiah, 50, other two were Kuppunuri Chinavenkaiah, 30, and Jajulu Pedapotaiah, 55. KARIMNAGAR: Two persons were killed and another person sustained injuries when the motorcycle on which they were travelling was hit by a granite-laden lorry in the outskirts of Bahupeta village in Karimnagar mandal late on Sunday night. <167 2P>SANGAREDDY: Two youngsters died and two critically injured in two different accidents on Monday. Yadagiri and pillion rider K. Raju died on the spot near Ramachandrapuram kaman when a truck hit them head-on. In Sadasivaet mandal, Abdul Saleem and his father Rahim who were riding a motorcycle were injured when a truck hit them near Aroor. They were shifted to Gandhi Hospital in Secunderabad.
