Tension prevails in Uttaranchal town

Tehri (Uttaranchal): Tension prevailed in Chamba town of Garhwal region on Monday following clashes between members of two communities, police said. Some hutments and a shop of the minority community were allegedly damaged by majority community members last night after two persons identified as Naushad Ali and Jackie were arrested for allegedly possessing some pieces of beef, Superintendent of Police, Tehri G.S. Martolia told reporters here. "The situation in Chamba is under control and two persons, including ABVP leader Raghubir Singh arrested in connection with the violence," Martolia said. — PTI
