Staff Reporter

But, for a population of four lakhs, order has been placed only for 20,000 doses

HYDERABAD: The Secunderabad Cantonment Board (SCB) is finally waking up to tackle the scare of chikungunya in its jurisdiction.

The Board, which had remained quiet all these days , has started procureing homoeopathy medicines for its dispensaries. However, even the late reaction, which began just three days ago, lacks energy. For a population of nearly four lakhs, the SCB has requested the State Government for just 20,000 doses of the homoeopathic drug that can keep the chikungunya virus away. Out of these, only 4,000 doses have reached the Cantonment's dispensaries at Picket, Lal Bazaar and Bowenpally and also the dispensary functioning in place of the Bolarum hospital.

More doses of the medicine were expected on Tuesday, SCB Health Superintendent O. Gajjaram, said.
