Theft in women's hostel

HYDERABAD: A thief took away gold ornaments valued at Rs. 20,000 from a working women's hostel in Punjagutta after sneaking into it using a ladder in the early hours of Monday.

There were 100 women in the four-storeyed Venkataramana ladies' hostel in Yellareddyguda. While all of them bolted their rooms, inmates of room No. 302 reportedly forgot to shut the door.

The thief searched the bags for valuables and took away two earrings, a bracelet and two rings.

For some reason, the six mobile phones kept in the room were left untouched.

Detectives suspect the theft to have been committed after 2.30 a.m.
