Database of domestic dogs

Pet dogs in the city will soon find a place in the official records. They will also sport collars with metal badges issued by the city corporation, under a licensing and health certification programme for pets.

The novel scheme aims to create a database of all domestic dogs in the city. The pets would be subjected to a medical examination and vaccinated against rabies. A health card would be issued to the owners of the certified animals.

The card will contain a photo of the animal, its age, name, breed, colour, distinguishing marks and vaccination details as well as the name and address of the owner.
