Bangalore: Kolhapur-based Nirmitee Open University is holding an exhibition of novel consumer products and scientific toys for children on the Ganesh Temple premises in KHB Colony, Koramangala 5th Block. The exhibition is on till July 10. Suhas Bandal, organiser of the exhibition, said the products provided solutions for power failure, weight loss, schoolchildren's `addiction' to TV, and difficulties in exercising due to lack of space. The exhibition would help children develop interest towards science, science product kits, puzzles, aeroplanes, science quiz's, he said. A product called "Sleeping Vibrator", which helped a person sleep within three minutes, is the special attraction. It gives a gentle vibration that relaxes the body. A "Driving Alarm Unit" warns four-wheeler drivers against falling asleep while driving by giving out a beep. A specially designed paper plane, which weighs one gram and costs Rs. 5, will help them in learning the basics of aerodynamics, according to Mr. Bandal. Other scientific toys include a plane designed using imported lightweight wood, a chart called "Star Dial", which will show the positions of stars when set with the right date, and a "Maths game".
