HC directive on sarpanch seat

HYDERABAD: Justice P.S.Narayana of the High Court directed the Election Commission of the State Government to file counter-affidavits in the writ petition filed challenging the reservation of the seat of sarpanch of Nidamanur, near Vijayawada, in favour of a Schedule Caste candidate. The Judge was dealing with a writ petition filed by T. Neelamma, who complained that for the last several elections this post had been reserved for Schedule Caste and there were very few voters from Schedule Caste category.
