HUBLI: The Kalasa-Banduri Malaprabha Yuva Horata Samiti has invited Ministers concerned and elected representatives and representatives of all political parties to a meeting on July 9 to take a decision on the action to be taken on the Kalasa-Banduri Nala project. Addressing presspersons here on Tuesday, Pramod Mutalik, working president of the samiti, said the meeting would take place at the Krishna Bhavan in Hubli at 4 p.m. "There have been several attempts to get the project implemented, but in vain. We want to put in concerted efforts and clarify misconceptions regarding the project," he said. The meeting would analyse what had been done and take the opinions of experts and leaders to chalk out the next course of action, he said. After the meeting, it had been proposed to take a delegation of the samiti to Bangalore on July 10 to meet the Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister and the Minister for Water Resources. "We want the State Government to take a decision regarding early implementation of the Kalasa Banduri Nala project before the conclusion of the legislative sessions. Otherwise, we would have to intensify the agitation," he said. Vijay Kulkarni, president of the samiti, said Rs. 10 crore was released for the project in the Eighth Five Year Plan and that meant that the Centre had approved the project. Moreover, the Kalasa, Banduri nalas were in Karnataka and the project would be implemented within the State. The project was in no way related to Goa, he said. He said contradictory statements by various leaders had led to confusion and even the Government did not have a clear picture about it. The samiti would make attempts to clear the misconceptions regarding the project, he added.
