Srikakulam: After a gap of nearly 20 years, the Congress seems set to wrest the Srikakulam Zilla Parishad from the TDP, if the present trend is any indication.

There are 38 Zilla Parishad Territorial Constituencies in the district and at the time of reporting, the Congress had bagged 20 ZPTCs as against nine by the TDP. The Congress had also bagged 220 MPTCs as against 130 by the TDP.

Delayed counting

There are 648 MPTCs in the district. Actual counting of votes started only after 1 p.m. Large number of people had gathered at the counting centres at Government Degree College and Government Polytechnic in anticipation of victory of their party candidates.
