National sub-junior chess from July 6

VISAKHAPATNAM: The East Coast Chess Academy will conduct the National sub-junior chess championships for boys and girls (under-15) here from July 6 to 12 at the Vaisakhi Jala Udyanavaram.

About 250 players are expected to participate and the first placed boy and girl will represent India in the World championship and the second placed at the Asian championships, said the secretary of AVDC, K.V.V. Sarma, at a press conference here on Tuesday.

Cargo Handlers posts win

Cargo Handlers defeated APSRTC by 25 runs in the VDCA in the super league of institutions league.

The scores:

Cargo Handlers 136 for seven in 35 overs (E. Ramudu 50) bt A.P.S.R.T.C. 111 for nine in 35 overs.
