MADURAI: TVS Lakshmi MHSS defeated SEV HSS by 84 runs to enter the semifinals of the T.E. Chatelier and V.K. Kalyanasundaram memorial inter-school cricket tournament, conducted by TVS LMHSS Old Students Association, here on Tuesday. The scores (quarterfinals): TVS Lakshmi MHSS 172 for five in 20 overs (R.G. Vignesh 63, Vishnuruben 41) beat SEV HSS 88. Jeevana School 126 for four in 20 overs (Yoganand 40) lost to Idyam Rajendran Residential School 127 for eight in 19.3 overs. Le Chatelier MHSS 137 for eight in 20 overs (Bagath 44) beat SBOA MHSS 102 in 19 overs.
Selection trials
Trials to select the Dindigul district boys' and girls' chess teams for the State tournaments will be held in Dindigul at 10 a.m. on July 11. Call S. Abdul Nazar (2426005) for details.
