ELURU: Narsapur Circle Inspector P. Venkateswara Rao and his jeep driver were injured and the jeep was badly damaged in an attack by a frenzied mob at Kothota under Mogaltur police limits in West Godavari district on Tuesday. They were admitted to the Government Hospital at Narsapur for treatment. According to Superintendent of Police M. Jaganmohan Reddy, the Circle Inspector went to the village in pursuit of a murder case. When the CI lifted two suspects, Rammohan and Rambabu, and was taking them in a jeep to the police station, he was detained and stoned allegedly by the supporters of the accused. A 20-year-old youth, Vamana Raju, from fishermen community was found dead in the village on Tuesday. The victim's relatives complained to the police that it was a case of murder and held Rammohan and Rambabu responsible for the offence. Sexual jealousy was said to be the cause of the murder.
