Chandigarh: The newly-floated Bharatiya Janashakti Party of Uma Bharti on Tuesday announced it will contest the Punjab Assembly elections due next February, fielding candidates in at least 15 of the 117 constituencies. "The Bharatiya Janashakti is likely to field candidates for more than 15 seats. The party had declared 14 district conveners in Punjab till date," organising secretary in charge of northern region party affairs Vishwanathan told reporters here. Vishwanathan did not rule out forging a political alliance with the Parkash Singh Badal-led Shiromani Akali Dal. PTI
