JAIPUR: The Rajasthan Government plans to extend the ambitious Satellite Communication System (SATCOM) to all village panchayats across the State by establishing Receive Only Terminals (ROTs) linked with the satellite interactive terminals at the district headquarters. The infrastructure will be used for providing information on various public welfare schemes to villagers. State Chief Secretary Anil Vaish, addressing a meeting of the SATCOM Coordination Committee in the State Secretariat here, said an action plan would be formulated shortly to appoint nodal officers in all departments and prepare the audio-visual programmes to be aired to the village panchayats.
System administrator
A system administrator to look after the programme would be appointed soon. Mr. Vaish said aspects like preparation of users' manual, working out of unit cost and the technology to be applied to ROTs would be taken care of in the action plan. The Director of the Department of Science and Technology, Rohit Kumar Singh, said an integrated uplink station being established at Indira Gandhi Panachayati Raj Sansthan in Jaipur would provide signals .
