Bus shelter opened

CHENNAI:
A bus shelter with seats, maps and a public telephone, a first of its kind in the city, was inaugurated by Transport Minister K.N. Nehru at the Anna Square bus stand on Tuesday. The facility would be used for the Metropolitan Transport Corporation.
The Rs. 1.25 lakh project of Rotary Club of Madras, has a poly carbonate roofing to ensure a cool cover.
Organisers said Rotary was planning to construct more than 100 such shelters all across the city.
Rotary International district governor J.B. Kamdar and the MTC's managing director L.J. Singaravelan, besides officials and members of the Rotary Club of Madras participated in the inaugural function.
