A veteran's words

AMONG THOSE thrilled with India's win in the series against West Indies is our own "Little Master", cricket veteran Gundappa Ranganath Vishwanath, whose exploits in the 1970s are still remembered by old timers in the city and elsewhere.

According to Viswanath, Rahul Dravid's record as captain of the Indian cricket team can be compared to that of Sunil Gavaskar.

"Dravid has reached the 9,000 run milestone. He played well in the final Test match of the series and inspired his team to win, showing class and consistency,'' the veteran is quoted as saying.
