Teachers seek changes in draft education bill

They plead for incorporation of the right to approach court by parents of students if they are `unjustly' punished

HYDERABAD: The Andhra Pradesh State Teachers' Union has called for changes in the Right to Education Draft Bill-2005 before it is taken up for consideration by Parliament.

In memoranda submitted to Human Resources Minister Arjun Singh and Minister of State D. Purandareswari, union leaders -- P. Subba Reddy and A. Laxman -- suggested provision of right to education for those below 14 years.The leaders pleaded for incorporation of the right to approach courts by parents of students or others if they were `unjustly' punished.
