HYDERABAD: A woman allegedly got her husband murdered with help from her paramour and tried to feign ignorance about the killing, the Rajendranagar police said on Tuesday. Sunena Devi of Katedan approached local elders on Tuesday stating that her husband Ganesh Prasad Singh, a labourer, had gone missing from Sunday. During inquiries, local people came to know that Singh was last seen with his friend Sikander Khan, an electrician. As Khan used to frequently drop in at Singh's house, they inquired with him. "After pleading innocence before them, he finally walked into our police station this morning saying he killed Singh at the behest of the latter's wife Devi with whom he claimed to have illegal intimacy," Rajendranagar Sub-Inspector Ghouse Pasha said.
Good friends
A resident of Mailardevpally, Khan met Singh some five years ago and they became good friends. Since then, he used to come to Singh's house on and off and developed intimacy with Devi, the SI said. Surrounded by financial problems, the labourer got addicted to liquor and used to frequently beat up his wife in an intoxicated state. "According to Khan's confession, Devi approached him to murder her husband saying she could not bear the harassment," the SI said. As per the plan, Khan and his two friends -Wazid Khan and Shamad Khan - invited Singh for a party. They took him to a secluded place in Mailardevpally on Sunday, consumed liquor till late in the night and strangled him to death when he got heavily drunk.
Body traced
Later, they doused his body in kerosene and set it on fire. Based on his confession, police traced the charred body. While Khan was arrested, his two accomplices are still at large. "We'll arrest Devi after gathering evidence against her," police said.
