Traffic police crack down on erring motorists

Thiruvananthapuram: The traffic police have intensified the checking of motor vehicles in the city as part of its efforts to reduce road accidents during the monsoon period.

The drive has been organised as it had been found that road accidents are going up in the city during the rainy season. Twelve motorists were booked by the traffic police for drunken driving in the drive that commenced on Monday.

Action was initiated against those overtaking through the left side, indulging in reckless driving and haphazard parking. The police also initiated action against the drivers of vehicles in which wipers were not functioning. The police have decided to introduce modern equipment to carry out checking of motor vehicles.
