BJP seeks meeting of all Chief Ministers

NEW DELHI:
If the Government is serious about tackling the inflationary situation, the Prime Minister should have called a meeting of all Chief Ministers, than the Congress president convening a meeting of the party Chief Ministers, according to the Bharatiya Janata Party.
BJP spokesperson Prakash Javadekar charged the Government with not consulting the Opposition on key issues, such as Nepal, India-United States nuclear deal and inflation. There was an urgent need to revamp the public distribution system (PDS), so that cereals, sugar, edible oil and pulses were made available through it at rates affordable to the common man.
Lack of adequate procurement of grains private companies had offered better prices to farmers, leading to poor procurement by Food Corporation of India had virtually led to the crumbling of the PDS. This, in turn, affected food security.
Describing the upcoming conclave of Congress Chief Ministers as a gimmick, Mr. Javadekar said the serious prices situation demanded an all-party meeting or a meeting of all Chief Ministers.
