Thiruvananthapuram: A 36-year-old woman detainee allegedly attempted suicide by slashing her wrists with a razor blade at the Venjaranmoodu police station on Tuesday morning. The woman, Sheeba, wife of a Gulf returnee, has been admitted to a private hospital in Venjaranmoodu in a serious condition. The Kazhakuttom police arrested Sheeba on Monday on the charge of criminal conspiracy and abetment. The police had arrested Sheeba after accusing her of hatching a conspiracy to kill a local trader with whom she had financial dealings and also a 22-year-old college student who the woman suspected to be the illegitimate child of her husband. According to the police, Sheeba had engaged a criminal gang to do her bidding. The police said Sheeba was transferred to Venjaranmoodu police station on Monday night because there were no women constables at the Kazhakuttom station.
