Steps to ensure price stability

KOCHI: Kerala State Civil Supplies Corporation has taken steps to ensure the price stability of essential items. A press release issued by the corporation said steps had been taken to make available good quality products to customers at a fair price through Supplyco shops. The aim is to help the common man meet his family budget without getting concerned over fluctuations in market price of commodities. `Tsunami relief funds not utilised'

KOCHI: The Kerala Water Authority Employees' Association (INTUC-I)) said the Rs.1.75-crore that had been allotted for the KWA to carry out tsunami-relief activities at Njarakkal was not utilised. The fund was aimed at streamlining water supply schemes at Elankunnapuzha, Nayarambalam and Njarakkal panchayats. This was a lapse on the part of senior officials, the association alleged. — Staff Reporter

Rs.7.6-lakh power theft detected

KOCHI: The anti-power theft squad of the KSEB detected power theft and misuse to the tune of Rs.7.69 lakhs, in a surprise inspections held in Kochi. The theft was detected from a hotel in Rajaji Road, a bakery, a shop in Aluva and houses of domestic consumers, a release issued by Rishi Raj Singh, IG of Police (Vigilance and Security) of the KSEB, said.

BSNL employees say SIM cards are available

KOCHI: The BSNL Employees' Union alleged that BSNL officials had stopped the distribution of pre-paid mobile SIM cards, despite the marketing section receiving sufficient quantity of cards many weeks back. P.S. Peethambaran, district secretary of the union, said that this had put the public to great difficulty. — Staff Reporter
