NEW DELHI: Communist Party of India activists organised a demonstration in the heart of the Capital on Tuesday in protest against "barbaric aggression of Israeli troops on the people of Palestine". The protestors gathered on Shahjahan Road near India Gate with banners and placards and marched towards the Israeli Embassy. They were stopped midway by the police. Senior CPI leaders A.B. Bardhan, D. Raja, Amarjeet Kaur and Atul Anjan addressed the gathering. In a press statement, CPI secretary Amarjeet Kaur said in the recent attacks, Israeli troops detained several Ministers and Member of Parliaments of Palestine on the pretext of rescuing an abducted soldier. "Several bridges and electric power stations have been destroyed leaving a large part of Gaza without electricity, essential goods and facilities. More than one million Palestinians are facing a torturous life without water. Innocent children and families are being killed in the course of the crimes being committed by Israel. The U.S. administration and the European Union are overtly and covertly backing the actions of Israel," she said.
Aggression
The speakers demanded immediate release of all the elected representatives, an end to all aggression, and withdrawal from the Palestinian and other occupied territories by Israel. They demanded that the people of Palestine must get their homeland and that they have the right to live peacefully. They said India's interest lies in supporting the cause of peace, disarmament, independence, freedom and development everywhere as against the forces of war, aggression, destruction and forcible occupations of territories and nations.
