KOCHI: Artist T. Kaladharan continues with his fascination for calendar events. On Saturday, when the digital calendar will read 08.07.06, Kaladharan has organised a day-long watercolour camp at his Orthic Centre. There are many ways in which an artist relates to the times he is living. Kaladharan's temporal connections are innocent, and at times naïve. But it should be said that he continues, as it was with Kerala Kalapeetom, to remain a catalyst for the art movement in the city. Orthic Centre, which carries on with the legacy of Kalapeetom in moulding generations of artists and art lovers, seems to be linked with the calendar. Kaladharan had organised events to mark calendar events like June 6, which was 06.06.06. He made a theatrical installation using six figures to mark the event. In between, Kaladharan had conducted training camps, two of them, for school children. At Orthic, painting camps are a continuous process. Now, the watercolour camp is being planned to celebrate the heavens opening up overhead. Titled Monsoon, the camp will bring together a cream of senior artists from various parts of the State. The list include C.N. Karunakaran, K.K. Rajappan, S. Ajayakumar, Satyapal, Rajan M. Krishnan, P.V. Nandanan, Venkitaraman, Satheesh, Asanthan, Sunil Vallarpadom, Jayendran, D. Binuraj, Suresh Koothuparambu, Prasanth Olivilam, Eldo Joseph and Thomas Kurisinkal. These artists will start working at 9 a.m. and will go on till 7 p.m. The camp will be open to public from 5 p.m. The completed works are expected to come up for display at the Orthic itself.
