Staff Reporter
Thiruvananthapuram: The Confederation of Residents Associations (Confra) has urged the Government to take the initiative to set up a South Indian Bench of the Supreme Court in the capital city. In a memorandum submitted to Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan, Confra general secretary K.P. Karunakaran Nair said the facility would benefit thousands of citizens who are now forced to travel all the way to Delhi for litigation. The memorandum called on the Government to provide facilities in Thiruvananthapuram to convene the winter session of Parliament. It said the State had already conveyed its willingness to the Centre and submitted the plan and blueprint of the buildings to be used to host the session. It added that such a move would also give a boost to tourism in South India.
