Sangareddy: Medak Collector B. Venkatesam launched the State Bank of India's Kisan Credit card at the SBI local branch here on Wednesday. Speaking on the occasion, the Collector said that farmers holding the card would be able to with draw the required amount as per the credit limit set by the bank.
Insurance facility
He said that the farmers who would repay the amount drawn in a responsible way, need not visit the bank for at least three years. The cardholder would automatically receive insurance for an amount of Rs. lakh. Assistant General Manager of SBI Dakshinamurty explained that the farmers could use the card to withdraw the amount from the ATMs available nation wide in 5,500 branches. He said that the bank had already disbursed loans to the tune of Rs. 19.50 crores to 7,400 the farmers for the kharif. He said that 2,800 were first timers and the amount given to them was Rs. 4 crores. The Collector handed over the first card to Lakshmamma of Togarpalli of Kondapur mandal. Nabard AGM Krishna Murty, Lead bank manager Gupta, Sangareddy branch manager K.Mehar Baba also participated in the function.
