Goondas Act to be invoked against rice smugglers

CHENNAI: Action will be taken under Goondas Act against those who are found to be involved in illegal sand quarrying and smuggling rice. Those arrested under this Act will be imprisoned for a period of one year and will not be released on bail. An ordinance to this effect was promulgated by the Governor on Wednesday, according to an official release.
