NEW DELHI: Bharatiya Janata Party president Rajnath Singh has demanded constitution of a joint parliamentary committee (JPC) to probe the Navy War Room Leak case, saying hacking of 7,000 pages of defence secrets is too serious a matter to be overlooked. In a statement, Mr. Singh said the Central Bureau of Investigation had recently filed a 250-page charge sheet in the case that contains startling disclosures of the country's security being compromised. Reports had also appeared about leaks from the National Security Council Secretariat, he pointed out. Criticising the CBI for allowing four months to elapse before conducting raids on the premises of those suspected, he said enough time had been given to the "spy ring-masters" to destroy evidence. "Nothing, it seems, is safe in the UPA Government, not even the defence secrets." Mr. Singh said the JPC should be asked to pinpoint the guilty at the bureaucratic and political levels. He expressed the fear that the "spy ring-masters" may be enjoying some political patronage. The Government must immediately identify the guilty and declare them persona non grata.
