CHENNAI: Singapore Airlines has announced a special return fare of Rs.30, 000 to key destinations in Australia from Chennai. This entails a round economy class trip to Sydney/Melbourne/Brisbane/ Adelaide. The offer also includes one-way economy fare of Rs.20, 000 to these destinations. However, the fares do not include taxes and surcharges. The seasonal fare offers an 11 per cent reduction in the existing return economy fare and a 16 per cent cut in the one-way fare. The current return economy fare is Rs.33, 340 for a round trip and Rs. 23, 340 for a one-way trip. The booking must be made between now and July 21 and is valid for travel till August 31. Bharath Mahadevan, Manager, South India, SIA, said: "Australia has emerged as a key destination for students wanting to pursue higher studies. Keeping this in mind, the airline has come out with an `Australia Offer' featuring a special return fare as well as excess baggage allowance on one-way fare to students travelling on this route." Passengers can make the purchases through travel agents and SIA offices or online (singaporeair.com). The SIA, which began its operations to Chennai in 1972, runs 47 weekly flights to eight destinations in India.
