CPI(M) diluting Left movement, says CPI

Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD: The CPI has lashed out at the CPI(M) for "denting the Left movement" by snapping ties between them at a critical juncture when their relationships should have in fact been strong. Had they maintained their unity, the two Left parties would have been comfortably placed to corner the chairmanship of Khammam and Nalgonda Zilla Parishads. But, the CPI (M) took a unilateral decision of going with the TDP, CPI national secretary S. Sudhakar Reddy, and State Secretary K. Narayana, told a news conference here on Wednesday. They said the CPI had proposed to the CPI(M) leadership that each party would stake claim for the chairmanship of either of the two Zilla Parishads as part of continuing their alliance with the Congress in the elections. However, the CPI(M) walked out without discussing the issue.
