Big win for Sri Lanka

AMSTERDAM: Sri Lanka set a one-day international world record on Tuesday, scoring 443 for nine in its 50 0vers and then bowled the Netherlands out for 248 in the 49th over for a 195-run victory at Amstelveen.

Sanath Jayasuriya hit 157 runs off just 104 balls, Tillekaratne Dilshan scored an undefeated 117 off 79 and Kumar Sangakkara 46 from 43. Sri Lanka's innings included 56 fours and 3 sixes.

South Africa had hit the previous highest 50-over international score with 438 against Australia in March.

The two sides play a second and final match Thursday.

Sri Lanka came to the Netherlands after a 5-0 one-day series demolition of England. — AP
