New MD of IBP takes over

NEW DELHI: V. C. Agrawal has taken over as Managing Director of IBP Company Limited, a group company of Indian Oil. This assignment will be in addition to his existing responsibility as Director, Human Resources, at Indian Oil. Mr. Agrawal takes over the reins of IBP when it is in the final stages of its merger with the parent company, Indian Oil. An electrical engineer, Mr. Agrawal is an alumnus of IIT Roorkee.

By-poll candidate

takes out padyatra

NEW DELHI: Seema Luthra, the Congress candidate for the by-poll to the Subhash Nagar municipal seat, took out a padyatra in the area and requested the voters to cast their votes for the Congress party as it would protect their interest and solve their problems.

Stating that every child in the area must go to school, Ms. Luthra said it was her mission to improve the facilities at schools, particularly the government schools, besides solving the myriad problems of the area residents. She said special schemes would be introduced for the welfare of women.

Water supply to be affected

NEW DELHI: Due to heavy leakage and replacement of damaged pipe, water supply will be available at low pressure in some parts of the Capital on Thursday evening.

According to a Delhi Jal Board release, the affected areas include Greater Kailash-I and II, Saket, Malviya Nagar, Defence Colony, Andrews Ganj, South Extension, Chirag Delhi, Kalkaji Janta Flats, Ramlila Ground, Nirankari Colony, MCD Colony and Indira Vikas Colony.

Water tankers would be available at telephone nos: 29814106 (Jal Sadan), 26414647 (Greater Kailash), 26100644 (R.K.Puram) and 23370911 (I.P. Pumping Station).

ITPO to organise promotional events

New Delhi: India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO) on Wednesday said it will organise seven `India Promotion' programmes during this financial year in various countries as part of efforts to boost Indian exports.

The promotional events would be organised in Johannesburg, Mauritius, Tajikistan, Cebu (Phillippines), Kiev, Brazil's Sao Paulo and Sydney, an ITPO release said.

Cassette released

NEW DELHI: Vishwa Hindu Parishad leader Acharya Giriraj Kishore released an audio-cassette `Aartian" containing devotional songs sung by Baby Charvi Virmani here earlier this week.

On the occasion, Giriraj Kishore admired the singing style of Baby Charvi Virmani, a student of Class VIII of Bhatnagar International School in Vasant Kunj. She has been learning music for the past six years.
