KOLLAM: The attack on several houses by a gang at Pallimukku in the city led to tension in the area. The police remained vigil in the area to ensure that the situation remained under control. Deputy Inspector General of Police (Thiruvananthapuram Range) Anil Kant accompanied by Kollam SP P. Gopinathan and Kollam Dy.SP T. Reghunathan Nair visited the troubled spot on Wednesday morning. No one was injured in the attack. But heavy damage was inflicted on property and vehicles. The police said that the attack was one in retaliation to a trouble which erupted six months ago during the festival of a nearby temple. Eyewitnesses said the gang comprised more than 30 persons and they started unleashing the attacks after 10 p.m. Glass panes of houses and vehicles parked in front of the houses were smashed. In all, 14 houses were attacked.
