Congress wins 36 ZPTC seats

CORRESPONDENT

MAHABUBNAGAR: At last the Congress party managed to wrest the Zilla Parishad from the Telugu Desam after striving hard for over two decades with winning as many as 36 ZPTC seats out of 64 in the district.

Though the TDP gave a stiff fight, but it was able to bag only 25 ZPTC seats. Lack of coordination among the TDP leaders in the district was one of the main reasons for losing at least 14 ZPTC's by the party, according to political pundits.

The Congress party announced Kuchkulla Dhamodar Reddy as its candidate for Zilla Parishad chairpersons post. Mr.Reddy had lost Nagarkurnool assembly seat for two times consecutively.

He was defeated by Nagam Janardhan Reddy of the Telugu Desam.

Though the Congress party had 12 MLA's including one TRS in the district it had to satisfy with only 36 ZPTC's.
