Monsoon active over Telangana

HYDERABAD: The monsoon turned active over Telangana on Wednesday even as the depression in the Bay weakened and moved away further towards west-northwest.

The wet spell in the State, barring the Rayalaseema region, continued for the fourth day with several places reporting heavy rain. According to a forecast, the rains will be "light or moderate" only on Thursday.

During the 24-hour period ending Wednesday morning, Palasa, Sompeta, Tekkali recorded 8 cm of rain each; Mudhole, Utnoor, both in Adilabad district, 7 cm each; and Adilabad, Armoor, Metpalli, Nirmal and Ranasthalam 6 cm each.

The other chief amounts of rainfall were at Boath, Nizamsagar 5 cm each; Nizamabad, Bodhan, Navipet, Khanapur, Luxettipet, Mandasa 4 cm each; Asifabad, Sirpur, Chodavaram 3 cm each; and Kalingapatnam, Ichapuram, Jagtial, Kaleswaram, Kamareddy, Madnoor, Narsipatnam, Tandur and Vikarabad 2 cm each.
