Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh conducts probe into alleged financial irregularities
|
APWCA president and Minister J. Geeta Reddy informed of allegations Many women cricketers give it in writing about not receiving TA and DA Probe reveals lacunae in distribution of kits to women cricketers
HYDERABAD:
An enquiry into allegations that there were irregularities in disbursement of funds and in purchase of equipment by the Andhra Pradesh Women's Cricket Association (APWCA) found that most of them were not far from the truth.
The Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh (SAAP) ordered a probe after APWCA president and Minister J. Geeta Reddy was informed of the allegations.
Many women cricketers from the twin cities, Vijayawada and Vizag have given it in writing to the probe panel that they had not received any TA and DA amount most of the times. They had to spend money on their own for fear of losing the chance to play for the State. The probe also discovered that distribution of kits four nets, two mats, and four-dozen cricket balls was not done systematically.
Follow-up enquiry
The SAAP now finds itself in a piquant situation on the action to be initiated following the enquiry. Even the Technical Advisor to State Government, who conducted a follow-up enquiry, also concurred with the findings of the first report.
