Chain-snatchers strike at crowded areas in city

BANGALORE: Chain-snatchers have started striking even at crowded areas such as K.R. Market. On Tuesday, a man snatched a gold chain estimated at Rs. 25,000 from Sudha while she was walking under the Mysore Road flyover at the K.R. Market and disappeared in the crowd.

The police said that around 7.30 p.m. the man came from behind and snatched the chain from Sudha, an employee of a private company, on B.V.K. Iyengar Road while walking towards the bus terminus to catch a bus to her house in Srinagar.

On a complaint by Sudha, the K.R. Market police have registered a case.

Man robbed

Three armed men threatened Mohsin Khan and robbed him of a mobile phone estimated at Rs. 9,000 in Ashoknagar police station limits on Tuesday night. The police said that on the pretext of enquiring about an address, three men accosted Khan on Eagle Street in Richmond Road and robbed him of the mobile phone. On a complaint by Khan, a resident of Someshwaranagar, the Ashoknagar police have registered a case.

House burgled

Thieves broke into the house of Sanjay Surana in Milkman Colony in Shanthinagar on Tuesday and made away with gold jewellery and other valuables, all estimated at Rs. 1.50 lakh. The police said the theft took place between 9 a.m. and 10 p.m.

Chips seized

The Central Crime Branch (CCB) officials on Tuesday raided two shops in Gandhinagar and arrested three persons on charges of selling pirated multimedia memory chipsin which pornographic pictures were recorded.

The police seized multimedia memory chips, power cards, card readers and other electronics gadgets, all estimated at Rs. 1.50 lakh.
