Engineer waylaid, robbed on Airport Road
Staff Reporter
BANGALORE:
Four persons allegedly waylaid a car, held the occupant hostage and robbed him of cash, mobile phone and an ATM card, on Monday evening. Later, the miscreants dumped him near Hoskote and drove away in the vehicle.
Gurvinder Singh, working as an engineer in American Online Customer care in Electronics City, was returning to his house in Murugeshpalya when four persons on motorcycles blocked the way of his car on Airport Road. They got into the car and robbed him of his mobile phone, an ATM card and Rs. 200.
Singh, who was asked to drive the car, was told to stop near a ATM on CMH Road. The miscreants, who found Rs. 2,000 in the account, asked Singh to withdraw the entire amount. They then drove to the outskirts of the city. Near Hoskote the miscreants allegedly assaulted Singh and dumped him by the roadside. On a complaint from Singh, the Jeevanbima Nagar police have registered a case.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) P. Muniswamy said the police were yet to get a positive clue about the miscreants. On the description given by Mr. Singh, the police have prepared sketches of the accused.
"We have shown Mr. Singh the photographs of some criminals. We are tallying the sketches with the data maintained by the City Crime Record Bureau," he said.
