Kerala Press Academy courses

KOCHI: The applications for the Journalism and Communication and Public Relations and Advertising diploma courses conducted by the Kerala Press Academy, Kakkanad, can be submitted till July 31. The basic qualification for the 11-month courses is graduation in any subject. Admission will be based on written test and interview. The age limit of candidates is 27 years on June 1, 2006. KOCHI: The study materials for those who have registered for the new batch of the Certificate Course in Continuing Education in the district will be distributed at Municipal Conference Hall, Aluva at 11 a.m. on Thursday, according to the State Literacy Mission district coordinator. The classes will start on July 15. - Staff Reporter

Dharna held

KOCHI: The Kerala State Private Bus Operators Association staged a dharna in front of the Kanayannur Taluk Office on Tuesday, protesting against the diesel price hike. The dharna was inaugurated by association president K.A. Makkarkunju. Ernakulam District Private Bus Operators Federation general secretary M.B. Sathyan spoke. A dharna will be held in front of the Secretariat on July 12.

Indefinite stir

KOCHI: Employees of the Indira Gandhi Cooperative Hospital started an indefinite sathyagraha in front of the hospital, raising various demands, including the reinstatement of dismissed employees. The programme was inaugurated by C.M. Dinesh Mani, MLA.

ABVP protest

KOCHI: The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) organised a strike in the colleges in the city as part of the State-level protest against the Self-financing Colleges Act of the LDF Government.

Campaign rally

KOCHI: Employees and officers of the Indian Bank on Wednesday organised a rally in front of the M.G. Road branch of the bank as part of the campaign for the all-India strike planned by the United Forum of Bank Unions on August 8. - Staff Reporter
