Criticism against SEC flayed

HYDERABAD: The Federation of Ex-servicemen's Associations has hit out at several politicians, including Telugu Desam Party president N. Chandrababu Naidu, for criticising State Election Commissioner A.V.S. Reddy.

In a statement here on Wednesday, S. Pasumarthy, secretary-general, and L.K. Reddy, chief coordinator, praised Mr. Reddy for the `peaceful' conduct of the Panchayat Raj elections. They said irregularities in the voter lists and bogus voting were not a new phenomenon.

They recalled the `able' services rendered by Mr. Reddy, a former Army officer himself, as Collector of Krishna district as also during the Diviseema cyclone.
