Construction worker falls to death

Thiruvananthapuram: A 30-year-old construction worker fell to death while working on a multi-storied building at Vanchiyoor. The police identified the deceased as Retneshwar, a resident of West Bengal. The incident occurred in the afternoon. The body was being kept at the Medical College Hospital mortuary. The police have registered a case of unnatural death. — Staff Reporter

ABVP activists

boycott classes

Thiruvananthapuram: ABVP activists boycotted classes on Wednesday to protest against the law enacted by the Government to regulate self-financing colleges and demanding revoking of the decision to grant minority status to six self-financing colleges in the State. The activists took out a march to the Secretariat and burnt Minister for Education M.A. Baby in effigy. — Staff Reporter

Thiruvananthapuram: Classes to the Career and Personality Development Course being organised by YMCA for High school students would commence on July 8. The classes to the next batch of Communicative English being organised by the Institute of Continuing Education and Career Guidance of the YMCA would start on July 7. Applications invited

Thiruvananthapuram: Applications have been invited for scholarship to various Engineering colleges in Russia. Those who have secured 60 per cent and above marks in the Plus Two exam can apply. Priority would be given to the members of the Indo-Russian Youth Club and the children of the members of the Indo-Russian Cultural Societies and those studying Russian language. The education and hostel accommodation will be free, a release here said. SAY results announced

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The results of the second year higher secondary SAY improvement examinations held in June have been declared. Of the 59,470 students who wrote the examinations, 43155, passed. A press note said 9,231 students wrote the improvement examinations. The results are available at `www.prd.gov.in', `www.kerala.gov.in', `www.dhsekerala.org', `http://keralaresults.nic.in' and `http://results.kerala.nic.in'. The mark lists will be sent to the school before July 12. Applications for revaluation and for the photocopy of the answer sheet should be submitted before July 25. — Staff Reporter
