2 Bodo leaders shot dead

GUWAHATI: Suspected members of the National Democratic Front of Boroland (NDFB) shot dead two former district leaders of the erstwhile Bodo Liberation Tigers (BLT) at Langhin area in central Assam's Karbi Anglong district on Wednesday.

The two, Dangru Basumatary and Bijoy Basumatary, were president and vice president of the BLT Welfare Society, which was disbanded in December 2003 after its leadership assumed office of the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC).

The council was formed after the signing of a new Bodo accord by the outfit with the Union and State Governments. Police said a group opened fire when the two were having tea in a shop.
