Jaju goes on surprise check in old city

Staff Reporter

HYDERABAD: MCH Commissioner Sanjay Jaju has ordered the transfer of the circle II's assistant medical officer and the suspension of a sanitary supervisor with immediate effect for `dereliction' of their duties.

He also cancelled the sanitary work order of a DWCRA group - Mahila Abhyudaya Sangham - for several irregularities in lifting and transporting garbage. A kirana storeowner was warned with severe action, including closure of his shop, if he continued to throw garbage on the main road. The Commissioner inspected some of the areas in the old city as part of his surprise check on sanitation work.

Meanwhile, the MCH standing committee has opposed the setting up of beggar homes in community halls as proposed by the UCD Department and instead wanted them to be rehabilitated at empty sheds in Meerpet.
