Management centre launched at Minto Road sub-station

NEW DELHI: To promote energy efficiency and renewable energy and to give sharp focus to these issues and fulfil its obligations under the Energy Conservation Act 2001, Delhi Transco Limited on Wednesday launched its Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Management Centre at the 33 KV sub-station at Minto Road here.

In the absence of Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit who had to attend the Chief Ministers' meeting called by the Congress president, Delhi Power Minister Haroon Yusuf inaugurated the centre in the presence of Principal Secretary Power Rakesh Mehta, Director General TERI R.K. Pachauri and Director General Bureau of Energy Efficiency V.S.Verma.

The centre, it was informed, would seek to meet the rapidly growing energy need of Delhi. Its main objectives would include creating partnerships between industry, consumers, manufacturers and institutions to give a new direction to promote energy efficiency and renewable energy.

The management centre would also create awareness about energy efficiency and renewable energy resources and how they can be harnessed in various applications in the homes, business, industry, trade and buildings.

To this end, it will organise trainings of all groups of people who would become torchbearers for energy efficiency and renewable energy.
