Argument over matchbox ends in murder
Staff Reporter
HYDERABAD:
Argument over a matchbox led to a murder near Aramghar crossroads in Rajendranagar police station area in the early hours of Wednesday.
Two brothers - Shaik Muneer, 35, and Shaik Imam, 30, - were returning to their house in Tolichowki from work on foot around 5 a.m. when an unidentified motorcyclist approached them requesting a matchbox.
"At that time, Imam was holding the matchbox in his hands after his brother Muneer lit a cigarette. The stranger got down his vehicle and reportedly grabbed the matchbox from him," Rajendranagar Inspector Ch. Srinivas said. When Imam refused to give the matchbox accusing the stranger of highhanded behaviour, the latter picked up an argument. As the two were pushing one another, Muneer intervened and tried to pacify the motorcyclist. "According to passersby, the stranger suddenly picked up a stick lying on a push-cart and hit Muneer on his head and sped away on his bike. Muneer was shifted to Osmania General Hospital with a bleeding injury on his head where he died around 4 p.m. while undergoing treatment. The Rajendrangar police booked a murder case and have launched a hunt.
