ABVP demands continuation of carryover system

Staff Reporter

Bangalore: Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) has demanded that the carryover system for admissions to third year diploma courses be continued.

ABVP State unit Secretary Prabhudev Kappagal has in a statement here on Thursday said that students had been denied admissions to third year diploma courses under a new system.

Earlier, students who had failed in the first and second year examinations of diploma courses were eligible for admissions to third year diploma courses. But from this year only those who had passed in the first year and cleared at least four subjects in the second year were eligible to seek admissions to the third year of the courses.

Besides the system of examinations too had affected them adversely, Mr. Kappagal said. He said evaluation should be more transparent and efficient. Instead of re-totalling, revaluation should be allowed and the fees prescribed for it should be reduced. Photocopies of answer papers should be given to students, he said.
