NIZAMABAD: Telangana Non-Gazetted Officers' central union president D. Sudhakar has demanded that the Government release a white paper on the number of employees belonging to Telangana region working in Secretariat and different heads of department (HoDs). Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, he also demanded that a round table conference be convened with teachers, employees and workers unions to discuss the intricacies in implementation of Girglani Commission recommendations. There should be a pro-rata in the number of employees in Secretariat and also in HoDs, he said.
No regional balance
Expressing displeasure over the non-implementation of G.O.No. 610 and Girglani Commission recommendations even after 21 months of submission of report, he alleged that the Government had no sincerity in striking a balance in the number of employees among three regions. Later in the evening, addressing a meeting conducted by the union on problems besetting Telangana, he said no one in the Government, either Ministers or officers or elected representatives had awareness of the said G.O and Girglani recommendations.
Issue of G.O.
Nearly 21 years passed since the G.O was issued, he said adding that no GO so far had taken so much time for execution. Unleashing a warning to the Government, Mr. Sudhakar said his union had no patience to bear the alleged "injustice" to the Telangana employees in recruitment, promotions and service rules and would tread the agitation path till the Telangana employees demands were met.
Silence no weakness
Delivering a key note address, M. Kodanda Ram, professor in Political Science, in Osmania University, observed that the Chief Minister was considering the silence of employees and Telangana people as their weakness. He criticised that the elected representatives from the region were revolving around the Chief Minister instead of resolving the problems of the region. The TNGOs' central union general secretary, K. Swamy Goud, G. Lakshman, a professor in Philosophy in the Osmania University, N. Venugopal, Editor of a Telugu weekly, "Veeksam" and Telangana Writers' Forum secretary, Desapathi Srinivas spoke.
