NEW DELHI: All-India Institute of Medical Sciences Director P. Venugopal has sought a direction from the Delhi High Court to the Election Commission to inquire into whether Health Minister Anbumani Ramadoss is holding an office of profit by holding the post of AIIMS president while being a Lok Sabha member. In a petition on Thursday seeking the quashing of the AIIMS Institute Body's recommendation for terminating his services, Dr. Venugopal said Dr. Ramadoss himself or in the name of his personal staff enjoyed pecuniary benefits or privileges. Thus he incurred disqualification from being a Parliament member under Article 102 of the Constitution. Dr. Ramadoss, after taking over as AIIMS president, started staying at its guesthouse. After he vacated, his Officer-on-Special-Duty, D.S. Murthy, a retired police inspector , was staying there. The guesthouse was not meant for the Minister's personal staff. The Centre as well as the Minister asked the AIIMS to pay the bills for his mobile and landline phones. Earlier, Dr. Ramadoss brought with him an Indian Police Service officer of the Tamil Nadu cadre, Parmod Kumar as OSD, who was paid salary and allowances from the AIIMS account, Dr. Venugopal said.
