Wife meets Maudhany

Abdul Nasser Maudhany, People's Democratic Party leader and an undertrial in the Coimbatore serial blasts case, met his wife, Soofiya, at the Central Prison here on Thursday.

Ms. Maudhany accompanied a team of Ayurvedic doctors, who visited the prison to treat the PDP leader. She was with her husband from 11.20 a.m. to 1.35 p.m.

Farewell visit

Vice Admiral S.C.S. Bangara, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Southern Naval Command, Kochi, will pay a final visit to INS Agrani on July 7 and 8. He is relinquishing both command and service on July 31.

During his visit, the Vice Admiral will meet officers, sailors and civilian staff of INS Agrani. Admiral Bangara was a student of Mani Higher Secondary School in the city and received the All India Best NCC Cadet Trophy from the then Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru, in 1962.

Power shutdown

There will be no power supply from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on July 7, as the Annur sub-station will be shutdown for maintenance work, according to a press release from the Tamil Nadu Electricity Board:

Annur, Kuppepalayam, Odderpalayam, Kembanaickenpalayam, Kariyampalayam, Paduvampalli, Pongalur, Ganesapuram, Pasur, Chokkampalayam and Kumarapalayam.

Campus interview

The Department of Extension and Career Guidance of Bharathiar University will conduct a campus interview for an information technology company based in Bangalore, on July 8.

In a release here, M. Jayakumar, Professor of Extension at the university, said that students of B.Sc. Computer Science, B.C.A. and B.Sc.(CT & IT), who had obtained 60 per cent marks, were eligible to attend the aptitude and technical tests that would be held at the Department of Extension on the University campus, at 10 a.m. on July 8. Candidates should register at www.careervarsity.com of the university.

Sani Mahapradosham

Sri Siddhi Vinayagar Charitable Religious and Educational Trust has organised a special Pradosha Thandavam dance by Udumalai Senthil, a disciple of Padma Subramaniam, at Krishna Colony Siddhi Vinayagar Temple, Sri Meenakshi Sundareswarar Sannidhi, at 5 p.m. on July 8. This is to celebrate the auspicious occasion of Sani Mahapradosham.
